Significant people and places during the Greek conquest
During the period of the Greek conquest, there were many people who were considered important during that time. There were also many significant places that today, are also considered important and sacred to many different cultures especially the Jewish people.
The significant people of the Greek conquest would be, Alexander the Great and the people who took over the countries after Alexander had died. Alexander was the great king of Macedonia and conqueror of the Persian empire, who gained control of the the Macedonia empire in 336BC when Phillip, Alexander's father died. He and his generals and successors then went on to take over The Persian Empire
His generals who conquered some areas after Alexander's death included Lysimachus, Cassander, Selecus and Ptolemy and their successors such as Antiochus who was the successor of Selecus.
Judas Maccabees and his family are also considered very significant people because they stood in the way of The Greek army and conquest of the Jewish people. He also helped restore the Temple of Jerusalem back to its previous state before the conquest and tried his best to preserve Judaism.
